Goodwood Festival of Speed 2015: all the action live

It’s that time of year again: The 2015 Goodwood Festival of Speed is well underway, and our reporters are down there in sunny Sussex sampling the best the year’s biggest motoring event has to offer. The action from the 2015 Goodwood FoS should be thrilling, and we’re on hand to get the lowdown on the biggest new cars and the jaw-dropping classics. 

The Goodwood Festival of Speed kicked off with the Moving Motor Show where the public enjoyed seeing, hearing and even driving a choice selection of the latest new production cars. Now the Goodwood FoS proper is go! The event is full of exotic metal from frisky hot hatches to full-blown hypercars, as well as one-off racing prototypes and brand new concepts all taking their turns on the hill. The event will run through until Sunday the 28th of June, with static displays and other attractions adding to the spectacle.

The Goodwood FoS sculpture

For 18 years we’ve seen dramatic sculptures from designer Gerry Judah grace the front lawn of Goodwood house, and this year he’s collaborated with show sponsors Mazda to create a centrepiece inspired by the Japanese firm’s ‘Soul in Motion’ tagline. 

The 2015 Goodwood sculpture is based around the theme of “Flat Out and Fearless: Racing on the Edge”. The towering design features 720 metal beams twirling 40 metres upwards, not entirely dissimilar to the double-helix structure of DNA. At the top is Mazda’s legendary rotary-engined 787B Le Mans racer, and the LM55 Gran Turismo Vision concept. The whole feature is said to weigh 120 tonnes. Read more here…
