Bentley Bentayga SUV 2016: our best look yet, plus interior pics and prices

The rumour-mill was rife, but now Bentley has given the official word that the first SUV in its history will be named the Bentayga. Now undergoing the last stages of development and testing, the luxury model will go on sale in 2016 – but the full production car will be unveiled at a motor show later this year.

We’ve had a good idea of what the Bentayga will look like for some time, but its now been seen with very little disguise. We’ve also had our first official look at the interior thanks to a Bentley promotional video. The new SUV is set to be made at Bentley’s factory in Crewe, Cheshire, rather than alongside the platform-sharing Audi Q7 in Bratislava, Slovakia.

The Bentley SUV EXP 9 F concept was previewed at the Geneva Motor Show in 2012, but the manufacturer later confirmed that it had significantly changed the design in response to customer feedback.

To accompany this announcement, Bentley released a sketch revealing a slightly sportier profile than the upright concept. There’s an uncanny resemblance to Porsche’s Cayenne, too, suggesting the two SUVs will share more than just a platform – they’ll have similar proportions as well.
